Video: The Hubless Monster

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

We recently got a glimpse of the Swordfish Hubless Concept and became enthusiastic about the spokeless wheels idea, but it seems that someone got a head start.

The Hubless Monster is actually a running chopper featuring hubless wheels and the implicit advantages of this construction method: more accurate steering, lower center of gravity, increased braking leverage and less vibration. Just look at it go!

Triumph Speed Triple Carbon Fiber Limited Edition

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph upgrades their Speed Triple 1050 with a multitude of carbon fiber pieces and calls it a limited edition model. This exclusive naked motorcycle relies on the very same 1050cc inline-triple engine powering the standard Speed Triple with its 130 bhp while the Brembo brakes and Showa suspensions are also there.

The Speed Triple Carbon limited edition model additions are purely cosmetic so the only color matching the carbon fiber flyscreen, cowl, infill panels, heat shield and front fender was matt black. The handlebars have also been black painted and the mirrors were anodized.

GP Motorsports built M1-replica out of R1

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

GP Motorsports builds motorcycle replicas with such accuracy that even the original designers would have troubles spotting the difference if there wasn’t for some minor details included willfully. Take this M1-replica that they’ve built out of a 2008 Yamaha R1 for example. The only details that set it apart from the original thing are the “R1” logo on the fairing and filler panels below the tank.

There isn’t much left of the original bike. In fact they only needed R1’s frame on which they started to add unique components such as the forks which have been taking straight off Carlos Checa’s 2003 GP bike. There is an Öhlins TTX shock and an R7 triple clamp, just to start your interest. Racefit have crafted the custom exhaust and Dymags provided the 16.5″ carbon rims.

200 hp Triumph Rocket III RR – a potential VMAX contender?

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

The Italians from blog triumph che passione with the help of Pio have imagined a British power cruiser perfectly suitable to compete with the 2009 Yamaha VMAX. In their vision, the Triumph Rocket III RR also develops 200 horsepower and it is fitted with suspensions and brakes taken straight off the Daytona model and modified to match the cruiser.

All possible extra weight is eliminated and the bike reduced to its bare essence. An Arrow exhaust with titan silencers will be fitted as well as Brembo brakes with huge wave discs.

Jet Bike of the Future

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

It’s a well known and studied fact that man kind will be using individual forms of transportation in the future and as scary as a jet bike might be, people imagine that too. This is Norio Fujikawa’s concept jet bike and it looks quite plausible mostly because it is inspired on the design of modern day sporty two-wheeled vehicles (that doesn’t make it less scary, if you ask me!).
new-article-10_460x0w
Norio Fujikawa : “Envisioning a jet powered flying bike powered by an alternative method of propulsion!” These are the words on which the concept is based and they sound quite visionary. As supposed, Japan will be leading the industry.

Cindy Iglesias undresses of secrets on the Aprilia RSV1000

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

Cindy Iglesias gives an interview to OctaneTV and models on the Aprilia RSV1000. It’s funny how girls dressed in swim suits talk about how they’re good at doing a little of everything and how successful they are. In this case, we’re talking about an entrepreneur, former dancer and cheerleader, currently modeling. Damn…when does this girl have time to eat (because she makes sure to mention about how great the food is in LA as if we couldn’t find that out by looking at her hips and belly)?

Will Ducati build a V Rod competitor?

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

We recently presented a rendering according to which the Triumph Rocket III could go RR and become the alternative for the Star VMAX and while that looked plausible, this Ducati concept designed by Luca Bar is simply mind blowing from where I’s sitting. Called D66, the Ducati custom motorcycle is so similar and yet totally different to the Harley-Davidson V Rod, it stands as the European alternative to a consecrated American muscle cruiser.

Now, the question is: would you consider buying this thing? Or let me rephrase that… Would you buy this thing over the V Rod if they would both cost pretty much the same?

Girls fight over bike ride in Bajaj commercial

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

Bajaj DTS-I are well known for building small cylinder capacity motorcycles that are fun, versatile, easy to maintain and the list can go on and on forever, but what they are even better known for is the way in which they choose to promote those bikes. This time it’s about the Bajaj XCD 135 and two sisters who fight over a ride with it (although I have I hunch that the rider is the main point of interest…but the commercial if for Bajaj so we’ll stick to that).

2009 Star V Star 1100

February 26th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Motorcycle

Powered by the same engine and riding on the same chassis, the bikes aren’t that different at their base so the small tweaks make the difference for each one in particular. It’s amazing how the simple 65-cubic-inch, air-cooled, 75-degree V-twin; SOHC, 2 valves per cylinder engine mated to a five-speed gearbox and fitted on a double-cradle steel frame with 33-degree rake can prove as successful in three different cases and even achieve similar performances despite the fairly minor differences in weight. Fuel consumption is a claimed 44 mpg in the case of all three bikes and the 4.5 gallons tank is there to keep your traveling rhythm constant and reassuring at all times.
